Vacation-bound for a visit with Hank Cummins and his genial cowboys at the Circle Four ranch in the shadow of the Great Smokies, tim Murphy, famous flying reporter of the Atkinson News, and his companion, Ralph Graves, soar into the west in their new plane.
Fatigued by the strain and danger of their last encounter with the Sky Hawk's gang, Tim and Ralph look forward to a quiet month on the ranch. But calm and quiet are things unknown at the Circle Four. Instead of a month of fishing for the wary trout, they find themselves plunged into a bitter war with rustlers.
