Our AMERICA'S FIGHTING TWO-FISTED TWO-OCEAN NAVY was still in the yards of our Nation and on our shipways when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941.  I dedicate these sketches to the men of the New York Shipbuilding Corporation, through whose efforts has been obtained one of the best production records in America; to those men who have labored faithfully with the sweat of their brows and long hours of toil, that our ships might be victorious in the Seven Seas; also, to the brave men who command these ships and the men who man them.  My hat is off to the men of our shops and offices with whom I do not come in direct contact...
