description -

This is must read for all who love the Oregon Shakespearean Festival. It shows how one man's vision can blossom into something truly grand.

Angus Bowmer should be better acknowledged as the man behind the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival began as a 3 day festival in July 1935 and expanded into one of the most celebrated theatrical institutions in American and perhaps the world. Angus writes about his life, before, during and after his retirement as producing director in 1971. He passed away in 1979 but his legacy still lives on with the theatre company. Like Laurence Oliver, Angus has a passion for directing, acting and producing Shakespeare productions held to the traditional Elizabethan style in Southern Oregon.
