It was early spring on Mr. Watson's fine big farm near Mapledale, Wisconsin.  Our old friend Billy Whiskers has spent a quiet, uneventful winter there.

 

His wife Nannie and his son and daughter-in-law and the two frisky grandchildren, Punch and Judy, were happy because they had kept him home with them for so long.  They thought that at last Billy was going to settle down.  Little did they know of the events which were coming!
