A modest mystery story involving two boys, a dog, a kindly houseboat ""captain"", model airplanes and an unusually disagreeable set of adults. Homer Craig and Joel had high hopes of winning the amateur airplane race, but spoiled Ossie Stacey was determined to win himself. Ossle's family, also, worked to make life unpleasant for Homer's family, since Mr. Stacey wanted to own Mr. Craig's factory. Homer's dog, Skipper, and Captain Jeep -- an elderly sea captain Homer and Joel befriend -- and complications, but eventually the Craigs settle acorns with the Staceys.
