KIRKUS REVIEW -

A how-to book for the sportsman that would make his own decoys. This- with pictures, some of them in color, tells how to use and to make body and head patterns, what materials to use, what tools, how to construct the heads, the bodies, how to paint (the illustrations indicate plumage patterns top and side) and how to get proper ballast, etc. There are many hints for the practical sportsman, too; study the other man's decoys for performance; consider the different conditions under which your decoys will be used; understand the differences between diving and shoal water ducks. Mr. Connett, himself a master sportsman and craftsman, has based his book on a famous collection of decoys made by John H. Boyle, as well as on those he has made and used successfully himself.
