For the traveller who wishes to journey along the 2 major sections of the Scenic Highway that remain open to automobile traffic, those eastbound from Portland on Interstate 84 will find Columbia River Scenic Highway signs beginning as they near Troutdale and the Sandy River.  There are several opportunities to turn off the freeway and on to the Scenic Highway...  Westbound travellers on Interstate 84 will find these same turn off designations, one near Rowena, just west of The Dalles and the Ainsworth Park turn off between Bonneville Dam and Multnomah Falls.
