from Preface -

The importance of your boat engine cannot be overemphasized.  It is literally the "heart" of your boat.  No one can deny the importance of the heart to one's life.  Also, another recognized fact is the knowledge that without a heart in good condition, a person is very limited to the things he can do and the pace at which any project may be accomplished.  So it is with your boat...The power boat operator frequently encounters troubles with auxiliary equipment such as lights and wiring, galley equipment, heads, and so forth.  The care and maintenance of items such as these is also required "first aid" knowledge for the power boatman.
