Description -
The early days of Boston were marked by abundant food, meals were plain but substantial. Often the family "dinner pot" contained boiled dinner to be topped off with Indian Pudding or dumplings. A cookbook was a treasured item to be cherished. It wasn't until 1796 that the first American cookbook was published in Hartford, Connecticut by Amelia Simmons, an orphan.
